UPS really does deliver!02:21 Aug 28 2008

With the changes and adjustments to the household, I had decided on outfitting some of the unused spare rooms. With that comes the decorators, and the tons of furnishings and objects to be delivered and put into place. I sometimes get carried away shopping on the internet - a marvelous invention, I might add. As a result of my buying frenzies, there have been several deliveries via UPS, FEDEX, etc. My staff usually tends to the deliveries, but on occasion, I do.
There was one particular UPS delivery man who caught my eye, who was a frequent visitor to the house. Many times, he would take a break in the kitchen, where Anna would serve him coffee and all manner of desserts. The UPS guy - Robert - became a regular visitor with two or three deliveries a week.
I became friendly with this man - I gleaned important information from him by talking to him and reading his thoughts (sometimes, he can be a pervert, but that is fine with me - it shows that the man has a vivid imagination, which I like)... I found him to be a very polite, soft-spoken man. I found him to be absolutely gorgeous - from his mahogany skin to his long-lashed dark eyes (I will admit that I have a 'thing' for men with long eyelashes)...I also found that he was newly single and had no children. This information was important to me, as I have a personal rule about not breaking up couples or families. (Many vampires do not abide by such rules - mainly the oldest and most powerful of the Elite, like Makafisa. She is a story unto herself)...
Anyway, it was during one of Robert's deliveries that I asked him about his living situation (like I did not know, right)? I placed a huge slice of red velvet cake in front of him.
"So Robert - I am surprised that you do not have a woman...I am trying to figure out why."
"Well, miss" he replied "I'm just taking a break from a recent break-up. I try not to go on the rebound - helps me to focus on what went right and what went wrong."
His response made perfect common sense - another point in his favor. I do not like stupid men.
"Smart man" I said. "And you can call me Isis."
Robert took a bite of the cake. "Wow - this is really good! My grandmother use to make cakes like this." I knew that, of course - which is why, during a delivery the following week, I had peach cobbler waiting for him...
Everytime he came by for a delivery and visit, we would talk and become more friendly and open...and I would continue to feed him desserts.
One afternoon, Robert dropped by. He was not wearing his UPS uniform, and he had nothing to deliver...but himself. And that suited me just fine. Another pet certainly will not hurt.
